A “Open Access Week 2012” (Semana Internacional do Acesso Aberto) decorre entre os dias 22 e 28 de Outubro e constitui um evento global que pretende promover a divulgação de iniciativas e projectos no domínio do acesso livre ao conhecimento, nomeadamente a disponibilização de resultados científicos/académicos em repositórios institucionais, a publicação de revistas científicas em acesso livre, a disponibilização de recursos educativos abertos e outras iniciativas similares.
A Open Access Week será dinamizada por algumas centenas de instituições, grupos e associações vários países, com iniciativas programadas no decurso da semana. A informação relativa ao evento internacional está disponível no sítio www.openaccessweek.org.

ELAG is Europe’s premier conference on the application and development of information technology in libraries and documentation centres. The annual ELAG (European Library Automation Group) Conference expects over 200 participants from all over the world (mainly library and IT professionals and researchers).
This year’s tag line will be ‘Inside Out Library’: while ELAG 2013 will still be focused on specific, library related IT issues, we want to expand the aim and target audience by addressing innovative topics such as Open Access. ELAG 2013 will also host two pre-conferences: THATCamp, which focuses on researchers in the digital humanities, and an OpenAIRE workshop.
ELAG 2013, the 37th ELAG conference, will take place in Ghent, Belgium from May 28th until May 31st 2013.

It is expected that ICT2013 will be opened by the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė, who will welcome to Vilnius young people from all over Europe looking to a career in ICT, and open the Lithuanian pavilion, showcasing the best of Lithuanian inventors & inventions.
Neelie Kroes, European Commission Vice President for the Digital Agenda will open the ICT2013 conference, a forum for debating the key issues among Europe as a home for innovation and a destination for ICT research.
The ICT 2013 event will be the first opportunity to learn the details of research funding for ICT-related projects under Horizon 2020, the EU’s new research program for 2014-2020. The European Commission proposed an €80 billion package for research & innovation funding, as part of the drive to create sustainable growth and new jobs in Europe. Horizon 2020 will support the development of ICT in Science (in future and emerging technologies or e-Infrastructures); in industrial leadership (such as smart systems, robotics, photonics, etc.) and in societal challenges (such as eHealth, eGovernment and eSkills.)

“Libraries in the Digital Age (LIDA) is a biennial international conference that focuses on the transformation of libraries and information services in the digital environment. In recognition of evolving online and social technological influences that present both challenges and opportunities, “ASSESSMENT” is the theme for LIDA 2014. The conference theme is divided into two parts. The first part addresses advances in qualitative assessment methods and practices and the second part covers assessment methods involving alternative metrics based on social media and a wider array of communicative activities, commonly referred to as “altmetrics.” While qualitative methods have a long tradition of application, altmetrics are a set of new approaches to filtering information and to evaluating scholarly communication and research, with possible application to libraries as well. O objetivo deste curso é o de informar os investigadores sobre as políticas de Acesso Aberto e de Dados Abertos do Programa-Quadro Horizonte 2020. Através do Horizonte 2020 a Comissão Europeia declara que todos os artigos revistos pelos pares, que resultem de projetos financiados por esta organização, devem ser disponibilizados em acesso aberto.
A oficina irá fornecer informações detalhadas sobre os requisitos para publicação em acesso aberto e sobre a ação-piloto de acesso aberto a dados científicos e aos planos de gestão de dados de investigação. Aos participantes serão dadas informações práticas sobre como cumprir com os requisitos do acesso aberto, e como integrar esses requisitos durante todo o ciclo de vida do projeto – desde a elaboração de propostas à avaliação final.
Resultados:
Esta oficina tem como objetivo reforçar o grau de cumprimento das políticas de Acesso Aberto e de Dados Abertos no programa-quadro Horizonte 2020, por parte dos investigadores portugueses. Assim, os participantes ficarão a:
– Ter uma melhor compreensão das vantagens do Acesso Aberto;
– Conhecer as políticas europeias sobre o Acesso Aberto;
– Conhecer os requisitos de Acesso Aberto do Horizonte 2020;
– Saber como cumprir com esses requisitos (quando publicam um artigo, depositam uma publicação ou submetem um projeto a financiamento)
